Oxford Utd Res 0, Brighton Res 1 A CHRONIC lack of punch near goal cost United dearly against Brighton in last night's Avon Insurance Combination game at the Manor.

United included four triallists - Argentinians German Tempone and Christian Otero and youngsters Dante Alighieri and Desmond Boateng from Woking.

Tempone was solid at the heart of Oxford's defence and was unlucky that his one mistake cost the goal. He was booked after 24 minutes for a foul on Browne, who beat Elliot Jackson with a firm header.

Otero, the smallest player on the field, delighted the 320 non-paying fans with some typical Latin American skill but there were occasions when he was too easily brushed off the ball.

Frenchman Christophe Remy, back from injury, played the full 90 minutes and showed no effects to the injuries which had plagued him this season.

United Res: Jackson, Remy, Alighieri (Shepheard 60) Lewis, Tempone (Richards 78) Rose, Wright, Otero (Brennan 90), Boateng, Folland, Cook.

Referee: R Desmond (Swindon).

Attendance: 320.
