Police have warned people to be on their guard after a quantity of potentially harmful drugs were stolen.

More than 500 tablets used to treat the householder's heart condition and asthma were stolen in the burglary at a house in Bampton, which happened on Sunday night.

The pills are not thought to be life-threatening but Carterton police have warned they could make anyone taking them quite ill and are concerned the drugs should not fall into the hands of children.

Around 100 Dilitazem tablets, small white pills with Amgiozem 60 on one side and AB on the other, were among the drugs stolen. Officers believe around 200 Ventilin inhaler capsules were also stolen, along with up to 240 Nuelin tablets. These are white in colour with NLS 175 written on one side and 3M on the other.

Just under 30 Staril tablets with Squibb 609 on one side and a star on the other were stolen along with a similar number of oval, cream-coloured Isib pills, which have 60 written on one side and on the other a logo which looks like a capital B.

Anyone who finds the drugs or who is offered tablets matching the description of any of those stolen is asked to call Carterton police station on 01235 776408.
