Children's TV star Ant McPartlin was arrested after a punch-up outside an Oxford nightclub.

The 21-year-old, of the Geordie pop duo Ant and Dec, was quizzed at St Aldate's police station after the brawl outside the Park End Club.

The fight broke out when a reveller was said to have insulted Ant as he left the nightclub.

One of the TV star's friends allegedly punched a man in the face, sparking a brawl. A barman was injured when he tried to stop the fight.

Ant, who presents ITV's Saturday kids' show SM TV, was driven away by police with two friends. All three were later released without charge.

One injured man, who refused to be named, said: "Someone shouted something. Ant's mate thought it was our group and smashed me in the mouth. I went down and someone put the boot in."

A spokesman from the club confirmed Ant was taken away by police, adding: "He comes in regularly and we never have a problem with him.

"We looked at our CCTV recording with police. It didn't show anything of use."

Police confirmed three men were arrested and released.
