Good Samaritans flocked to help mother-of-two Corinna Taylor after she accidentally locked her baby in her car.

A routine trip to the garage went horribly wrong when she left the keys on the dashboard and locked the door, shutting seven-month-old Daniel inside.

Corinna, 36, of Rose Hill, Oxford, had gone to the Q8 garage in Cowley Road to give her car a spruce-up before collecting her eldest son from school.

She said: "I had been through the car-wash and went over to the vacuum to give the car a clean. I got out and locked the driver's door before going round to the passenger side to use the vacuum. But because I didn't have a pocket, I put the keys on the dashboard while I was cleaning. "When I finished, I shut the door. I could see the keys on the dashboard as I did it, but I didn't realise until it was too late."

She added: "A man waiting to use the vacuum came along to see if the door would open, but to no avail.

"Then two chaps from the garage tried to pick the lock, but they did no better. By this time it was about 2.50pm and I had to pick up my son, Samuel, from school at 3pm."

A kind-hearted taxi driver offered to drive her home to pick up her spare keys, while garage staff watched over baby Daniel in the car.

She said: "My neighbour has spare keys to the house so I was able to get my spare car keys. My neighbour very kindly then drove to Samuel's school to pick him up while I went back to the garage.

"I offered the taxi driver some money for the journey, but he refused. I really have been taken aback and overwhelmed by the number of people who cheerfully went out of their way to help me. There is still a lot of goodness in the human race after all."
