Oxford United have cancelled next Monday's open meeting for supporters to ask questions about the club.

Club manager Ian Davies said: "It seems most people want to ask about the takeover but we're not in a position to say any more than was said at the AGM.

"We didn't want to waste people's time, so we have cancelled it."

Supporter Daniel Curtis labelled the decision "ridiculous".

"It appears they have got something to hide again," he said. "People want to know about the takeover because it means the future of the club. Calling this meeting off only causes greater suspicion."

Davies said it was announced in the last programme that people at the meeting could only discuss "football and operational matters".

The reason, he insisted, was that neither Oxford United nor Grenoble Investments will be in a position to make any further statements until after completion of the deal between Grenoble and Robin Herd.

However, several supporters have since contacted United to ask when there will be a meeting to discuss the change of ownership, re-location and other major issues facing the club.

"With this in mind, there seems little point holding a supporters meeting that will be unable to address these crucial matters," he said.

"The club apologise for the delay of the meeting and propose to hold an open meeting as soon as is practicable after the completion of the change of ownership.

"At this meeting, supporters will be able to ask questions on all issues facing Oxford United."
