Didn't he do well? Veteran compere Bruce Forsyth has managed to get three sayings included in the new Oxford Dictionary of 20th Century Quotations.

His Generation Game phrases "Didn't he do well?" and "Nice to see you, to see you nice" and "I'm in charge" from Sunday Night at the London Palladium are all listed.

Fourteen Oxford University researchers spent five years using computers to sift through magazines, newspapers and TV and radio scripts to create the list.

Dictionary editor Elizabeth Knowles said: "By their very familiarity, catchphrases become a part of the public consciousness. With Bruce Forsyth, the quotations are very much associated with his personality."

Forsyth joins Sir Winston Churchill, Bertrand Russell and T S Eliot among the century's most quoted figures.
