Police today issued a photograph of the man who robbed a building society in Oxford.

The thief walked into the Woolwich in Cornmarket at 4.45pm on Wednesday, threatened staff and ran off with cash.

He was caught on security cameras. Oxford police are today appealing to anyone who recognises the raider to come forward.

The man is described as white, 5ft 11in tall, aged between 30 and 40, of stocky build and with short black hair. He was wearing a dark leather jacket and blue jeans.

Det Con Kevin Doyle, of Oxford CID, said: "I think there were people in the building society who may have seen him."
