A man's body has been found on the ground floor of a multi-storey car park in Oxford.

Police officers and paramedics were called to the Westgate car park at around 5pm yesterday where they found a man with serious head injuries on the ground floor of the car park, lying next to the central stairway.

A passing GP attempted to help the casualty but he had already died. The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his vehicle and personal belongings were found on the top floor of the car park.

Police were last night trying to locate his next of kin. A formal identification was due to take place this morning. They are investigating the incident but at this stage do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances.

The incident is the second at the car park within two days. On Wednesday afternoon, a man in his twenties was found injured on the ground floor. He survived and is being treated in hospital for broken bones.
