NEW high-performance versions of the Mini Cooper, being built to mark the Mini's 40th birthday, are guaranteed exclusivity.

Just 250 of the 102mph Mini Cooper S Works cars are being built by John Cooper.

The new S Works, which costs from £12,495 to £14,595 depending on specification, uses a new 90 horsepower engine which boosts the power from the 1999 specification Rover Mini Cooper by 40 per cent.

All S Works models have a driver's air bag, seatbelt pre-tensioners, side impact beams, engine immobiliser and alarm fitted as standard.

Options include metallic paints, leather upholstery and a five-speed Jack Knight gearbox.

The cars are only available from John Cooper Garages of East Preston, West Sussex.
