OXFORDSHIRE FA chairman Ray Mills had the reddest face in county football at the weekend after making the draw for the third round of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup live on local radio - six months after the draw had already taken place!

The pairings had even been included in the OFA handbook which is sent out to all the clubs at the start of the season.

Mills held his hand up and admitted it was a genuine mistake, and immediately contacted all the clubs concerned to inform them of the correct draw.

"I made a cock-up, it's as simple as that," he confessed. "It's all been corrected and everyone has been informed.

"BBC Thames Valley rang me up and asked me to come in and make the draw, which I do most years. The trouble is, I make it at the next round stage. It was made back in the summer, as it always is, I just didn't realise it."

Mills added: "When I rang them all up, no-one had heard it on the radio. There were so many either-ors there weren't many clear-cut matches. As it turned out, one of the games turned out to be exactly the same."

Mills learned of the error when another OFA committee member pointed it out to him.

"I just said a few choice and nasty words, and then got down to contacting everyone involved," he added.

BBC Thames Valley were unavailable for comment.
