The Classic & Sports Car Show, being held at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, on April 29 and 30, aims to extend its appeal to the younger generation, focusing on high performance cars from the 20th century. The Sporting Bears car club will offer visitors a chance to ride in one of their selection of exotic cars to raise money for children's charities.

Internet buys

The company has added three limited edition cars to its exclusive .com internet range. From February 8, customers will be able to log on to Vauxhall's BuyPower Internet site at www.vauxhall.co.uk and purchase a limited edition Frontera.com, Frontera Sport.com and Tigra.com. Like the existing range, the new .com cars will also come with metallic paint and alloy wheels as standard.

Power boost

Ford is launching a direct injection turbo-diesel engine from March, at no increase in price over the existing model. The new 75 horsepower engine will be available on Encore, Finesse and LX models, replacing the Fiesta's existing 1.8-litre diesel engine. Ford says the new engine will give better performance, fuel economy and lower noise levels.

Scenic win

THE Renault Scenic was voted top of the mini-people carrier class in the Fleet Excellence Awards run by Fleet Management, Fleet Week and Business Car magazines. Renault fleet director Keith Hawes said the company was delighted. He said: "It tells us that improvements we made to the Scenic have helped it remain one step ahead of the new competition in the sector it created.
