TWO hundred teachers are now looking for new jobs, it was claimed today, following the county council's decision to switch to a two-tier system in Oxford.
And immediate talks are to take place between education chiefs and unions over the jobs issues.
The switch will leave many feeling uneasy and uncertain of their futures in Oxford, some councillors warned. Labour councillor Tom Richardson, who opposed the switch to two-tier, said teachers at axed schools would not wait over the next three years.
He said: "The future is uncertain for them -- would you hang around not really knowing what was happening to your job?" And Tory Norman Matthews warned Oxford would now face a "haemorrhage" of staff.
