She impressed traders at Oxford's Covered Market, who held a contest to answer the following question: What would you do if you had £2,000 for your school?

Georgia, of Divinity Road, east Oxford, replied she would create a fantastic new adventure playground.

She beat other youngsters across Oxford in the competition. Now teachers and pupils at St Joseph's Roman Catholic School in Headley Way, Headington, are ecstatic because Georgia's dream is to come true.

The school has already drawn up plans and is fundraising for a £7,000 playground, with Georgia's money as the first donation.

Proud headteacher Bunty McCormack said: "We are thrilled that she's won the money. It will make a huge difference to breaktimes at the school. It's something Georgia and her friends will be able to enjoy.

"We'll have to get her to cut the ribbon when it's ready."

Georgia said: "I am looking forward to the slide, swing and climbing nets, and all my friends are really excited." The new playground will be equipped with climbing frames, monkey bars, scramble nets, swings and a trapeze.

Trader Alan Lester, who owns Delcoy's bag shop in the market, said: "The traders wanted to give something to the community, to children in particular.

"We decided it should be £2,000 to mark the Millennium. Georgia's idea stood out."
