A headteacher has thanked his staff after their work was praised in an Ofsted report.
Inspectors told John Hawkins, headteacher of Edward Feild Primary School, in Kidlington, that his school had "a clear sense of purpose and direction" and provided value for money.
Teaching was highlighted as a strength. Inspectors said the relationships between teachers and pupils led to effective learning in a "friendly and caring atmosphere".
The report said pupils were confident about asking questions to clarify their thinking and were encouraged to express their feelings, ideas and opinions.
Attainment at 11 in English, maths, information technology and history was above the national average and music was particularly strong.
The inspectors said the school fully challenged its better pupils. Teachers were enthusiastic with a secure subject knowledge. Parents believed the school enabled their children to achieve their full potential and were pleased with the values and attitudes promoted by the school.
The report said monitoring of special needs provision could be developed and systems for tracking pupils' academic and personal development could be improved.
Mr Hawkins said: "I am very pleased that the professionalism and dedication of the staff has been recognised and that their academic achievements have been put on record."
