City of Oxford won the top club award for the second successive year but their younger age groups had to be content with second place behind Maxwell as this year's County Championships finished at Stantonbury.

Once again, City's senior boys dominated, with Olly Worthington adding two more titles to the four he won the previous weekend. Peter Williams won the 100m breaststroke and Dave Denny the 200m butterfly.

The City team were denied a clean sweep by Maxwell coach Janko Gojgovic, who won both the 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly, setting new county records with both victories.

City's men's relay team of Worthington, Peter Button, Denny and Chris Marsh beat their own county record with a magnificent 4.36.98 for the 4x100m freestyle relay.

Maxwell's junior boys again caught the eye, with Tom Wildridge and Craig Gibbons claiming a number of titles. Fifteen-year-old Victoria Reading claimed another three championships but perhaps the biggest surprise came when Suzanne Tyson from Milton Keynes beat Witney's Stacey Bailes in the 50m breaststroke.

Age group gold medallists for City were Matthew Corbett, John Kim, Aaron Rose and Jamie Higton for the boys, and for the girls Susanna Prince, Lauren Ottley, Lucy Higton, Katie Scott, Charlotte Cox and Katie Smith.

For Kidlington, 12-year-old Trevor Lyle was a double winner, while Bicester's Jason Beckett also claimed gold.

For Wantage, 13-year-old James van de Schootbrugge enjoyed an outstanding haul of 12 medals, nine of them golds. He was denied a clean sweep in his age group by Witney's Luke Wilmshurst in the breaststroke events.

Joanne Trask and Mike Adair were also among Witney's winners.

Wantage's Charlotte Rogers, 10, won the 50m backstroke.

Leading the way with four golds for Abingdon Vale was Roman Walzak (45-49 age group), breaking four county records in the men's masters. There were other golds for Alison Beynon, Helen Thorne and Richard Field.
