Commuters faced long delays today after two lorries crashed and brought the A34 to a standstill.
A lorry travelling south crashed through the central reservation near Weston-on-the-Green after a collision with another heavy goods vehicle at 5am.
Police said both drivers were treated at the scene for minor injuries by para- medics.
A spokesman said: "Both drivers were walking wounded and were taken to hospital for a precautionary check-up.
"One of them escaped with just a few cuts to his chin. He was incredibly lucky.
"If something had been coming the other way on the northbound carriageway, it would have been a different matter." The accident caused extensive tailbacks for morning traffic. One lane was closed northbound and both southbound, with traffic diverted to the hard shoulder.
