Oxford City goalkeeper Alan Foster marred an otherwise excellent display last night by making the mistake which secured Bognor's place in Ryman Division 1 next season with a 1-0 victory, writes Mick Woodley.

Foster kept City in the game during the first half as Bognor pressed hard.

The keeper brilliantly deflected a powerful shot from Birmingham on to the bar, while Scammell's follow-up also came back off the woodwork. Then Foster excelled in keeping out a splendid 20-yard effort by Masson.

Straight after half-time, Michael Thorp set up City's best chance of the game but Stewart McCleary's shot was too close to the keeper. Foster came to City's rescue on the hour after Whitehead had let in Scammell, and at the other end, Dwaine Strong broke clear only for his cross to evade McCleary.

Two penetrating runs by Chris Potter caused the visitors problems.

But with only 60 seconds left on the clock, Foster dropped a corner to the feet of Moores who accepted the easiest of chances from six yards.
