JAN Staechmann could be on his way back to Oxford Cheetahs.
Cheetahs chief boss Steve Purchase has revealed he has been in talks with the Danish star, fuelling speculation of impending team changes after four defeats in as many Elite League meetings this season.
Purchase said: "I can confirm I have been in talks with Jan Staechmann about a possible return to the Oxford side, but this is not the only option that I am considering."
Aware that the Oxford fans are becoming restless, Purchase is calling for patience. Staechmann, voted 'Rider of the Year' by the fans last year, was dropped from this season's squad He put in a transfer request, but never got fixed up with another club.
Under league rules, Oxford have to complete their home meeting against Belle Vue tonight and another away match before any changes can be made.
Meanwhile, one team has to break their duck tonight as both Cheetahs and the Aces have yet to gain a point. The Manchester outfit have lost all six so far, which even tempted promoter John Perrin to lure back world champion Tony Rickardsson without success.
