King's Lynn 53, Oxford Cheetahs 37

JT/FOX Oxford Cheetahs crashed to their second successive defeat in two days with a drubbing by a classy King's Lynn Knights side, who look like they are now set to march on to Elite League glory, writes Leon Hill.

Things were always going to be tough for Oxford in last night's live TV meeting, and the first heat proved that to be the case with the Knights storming to a maximum heat victory over a very subdued Todd Wiltshire. Cheetahs bounced back in heat two with the Dryml brothers, Ales and Lukas, riding an excellent race to level the match.

Two maximum heat wins followed for the Knights, which was a surprise as Jason Lyons, whom Oxford had managed to get as a last-minute guest after the fixture at Poole was called off, is a track specialist.

It was heat eight before Oxford provided another winner, and that came in the form of tactical substitute Steve Johnston.

An improved ride from Mark Lemon saw the second heat advantage of the night for Oxford, but they were still ten points behind. Wiltshire was drafted into heat nine which produced another Oxford 4-2, reducing the gap to just eight points.

There was a chance for Cheetahs to get back into the meeting. But it proved shortlived as the Knights pairing of former Oxford rider Jason Crump and Travis McGowan scored maximum points in heat ten.

Two shared heats followed, but maximum points for the home team in heat 13 finished the Cheetahs off.

They salvaged some pride in heat 14 with a maximum heat win from Staechmann and Lyons, but once again, the Knights hit back with maximum points in the last heat to end a miserable night for Oxford.
