They may be a long way from the sea, but youngsters in Carterton are nevertheless having fun in the sand.
Carterton Educational Trust gave St John's Church a grant to buy a sand tray. The church hosts a group for pre-school children and their parents on Friday mornings.
About 65 youngsters attend, taking part in play activities while their parents enjoy a cup of tea or coffee.
