Two patches of land which have been eyesores for more than 30 years could soon be developed.

At the moment, the areas around Jubilee Villa at The Moorlands, Benson, are overgrown and have several derelict caravans on them.

South Oxfordshire District Council western area planning committee has given the go-ahead for houses or bungalows to be build on both sites.

It gave outline planning permission for the developments, and detailed applications will be made soon.

David Oliver, of Old London Road, who lives near the sites, said he was glad the development would take place.

"It will clear an eyesore I have lived with for 35 years and it is about time something was done.

"I would prefer to see bungalows in keeping with the surrounding homes rather than two-storey houses" he told the committee.
