Former Oxford favourite Martin Dugard blasted his way to a shock victory in a breath-taking British Grand Prix at Coventry on Saturday.

The 16-1 shot with William Hill was only a wild card entry, but he took the cream of the world's top riders by the scruff of the neck to win in vintage style.

Oxford's Todd Wiltshire and Jimmy Nilsen battled gamely, but the only satisfaction they can take on a highly-charged night at Brandon Stadium was the fact that they are still in the top ten, which gives automatic entry into next year's series.

Cheetahs' new addition, Danish ace Brian Andersen - who rides with a permanently broken right shoulder - lasted only two rides before he was eliminated on his home track.
