Newly-weds Lewis Ricket and Stacey Rivers returned to the place where they first met for a marriage blessing.

The couple met at Wallingford's Riverside Park as children when they were camping with their parents.

Their friendship later blossomed into love.

Last year, the couple got engaged at the site, and they returned for the blessing on Saturday following their wedding at Didcot Register Office.

A special awning was raised for the big ceremony by the riverside. The couple were surrounded by guests, while happy campers crowded around the outside to witness the couple's special event.

The Rev Peter Boulton-Lea, vicar of Tattenham Corner, Esher, performed the ceremony. Julio Barresi, the manager of Riverside Park, on the bank of the River Thames, said: "They are a very nice couple, and the families always come here in July for a get-together. Fortunately, the weather was lovely for the blessing.

Lewis, a trainee manager with Waitrose in Bath, comes from Southend, and Stacey, a care nurse in Devizes, from Westbury, Wiltshire.

Her step-father, Paul Mead, of Westbury, where the couple will live, said: "Three generations of our families have been coming here year on year we all love the spot.

"There was never any real doubt where Stacey and Lewis would seal their marriage - and it was a beautiful ceremony."
