A slick Aldershot side, favourites for this season's Ryman Premier Division championship, were much too good for Oxford City, beating them 4-0 at Court Place Farm last night, writes Mick Woodley.
City went behind in the tenth minute when Gary Abbott's low cross was met at the far post by Lee Holsgrove.
Shaun Wimble was unlucky not to equalise for City when Andy Pape could only tip his free-kick on to a post.
Shots' one-touch football was opening up City's defence, and just before half-time, Alan Foster twice saved splendidly from Wayne Andrews.
Matt Crossley headed in a corner to increase Shots' lead in the 47th minute and, although Dwaine Strong caused a few problems, former Wycombe defenders Crossley and Holsgrove were giving nothing away.
Goals in the last few minutes from Andrews and Jason Chewins sealed a very impressive display for the visitors.
