Didcot weightlifter Michael Causer flies the flag for England at the Millennium Commonwealth Youth Games in Edinburgh next week, writes Russell Smith.
The 18-year-old has been selected to represent his country in the 77k category at the Games which run from August 9-15.
Causer won his call-up after an impressive second-place finish, representing Britain in an international competition in Germany.
Competing in the 77k class for the first time, he posted a personal best of 95k in the snatch and equalled his previous best clean and jerk of 120k for a total of 215k. Causer is hoping to better those figures in Edinburgh, but is making no predictions about his medal chances.
