JAN Staechmann is the rider who will make way for Brian Andersen in the new JT/Fox Oxford Cheetahs line-up, writes JOHN GAISFORD.

Staechmann will join Belle Vue after riding for Cheetahs in tomorrow night's Elite League speedway clash at home to Eastbourne.

The Dane, very popular at Sandy Lane, has not had the best of returns as he was left out of the starting line-up at the beginning of the season.

New boy Andersen, who won the British Grand Prix round at Bradford three years ago, has since suffered terribly with injuries.

He has broken bones in both shoulders, and in fact, is still hampered with his right shoulder.

He said: "I have always wanted to ride back in England. I would like to thank Oxford for giving me the chance and I hope I can justify their optimism." Oxford promoter Steve Purchase said: "I feel I had to make the change. Jan is not very happy, but Brian is a class act, although his GP scores have been disappointing this year.

"Given our recent run of results, I concluded that unless I made another change I had serious doubts that we would win another match this season."

Andersen won't be available to ride against Eastbourne because of prior commitments in Sweden, but he will make his bow at Wolverhampton on Monday, when he will partner Todd Wiltshire in the No 2 slot.
