A rapidly expanding motor-racing company is selling some of its prized possessions to make space for further growth, writes David Duffy.

Reynard Motorsport, of Bicester, has expanded its business and transferred much of its work to a purpose-built 14-acre complex at Brackley, Northamptonshire, a site shared with the British American Racing Formula One Team.

Now the firm, which has become the world's leading production race-car manufacturer with a turnover of about 40m, plans to auction surplus equipment and give enthusiasts a chance to buy some prized racing cars.

Shay Campbell, operations manager at Reynard Motorsport, said: "Moving has given us a chance to spring-clean the original Bicester site of the company and this sale seemed an ideal solution for disposing of items we no longer require and do not have space to keep.

"There are some very collectable items on offer, which unfortunately we must part with to make way for other things as we expand and move ahead in this exciting business."

The 600 lots to be auctioned by FPD Savills include a DAMS 1995 'Formula One' Prototype Racing Car, a 1992 Reynard 92D Formula 3000 Show Car and a 1999 Reynard 99i Champ Car US 'Fed Ex Champ Car Series', as raced by Patrick Carpentier. Also on offer are 15 Reynard Go-Karts, spares for a 1995-96 Reynard Champ Car, a 1996-98 Ford Mondeo Touring Car, 1997-98 Panoz GTR1 and body panels, wings, seats, wheels and other parts and tools. Computers, office equipment and furniture will also be for sale.

The sale is on Tuesday, September 5, at 10.30am at the Reynard Centre, Telford Road, Bicester. Viewing is on Monday, September 4, between 9am and 4pm. For details contact FPD Savills,0115 9348100.
