CHARLBURY Town FC, who have been part of the Witney and District FA since its inception, are in danger of dropping out this year.

The club have had to cancel today's opening fixtures due to a lack of players.

Club secretary Keith Claridge said: "Last year we ran two Saturday league teams with 39 players signed on. So far we've only got 12.

"It's pretty desperate. There is a real danger that for the first time Charlbury may be unable to get a Saturday side.

"We've been in the Witney and District since it started about 100 years ago. We don't want to fold completely, but we really need more players just to ensure we can put out one team."

Anyone interested in playing can call Claridge on 01608 810201 or the captain, John Fitzgerald, on 01608 811178.
