EL Boss can become the first greyhound to land Oxford Stadium's top two prizes in the same year by adding the RD Racing Gold Cup tonight to his Pall Mall succcess earlier this year.

The Linda Mullins-trained black dog stormed to victory in the Arthur Young & Co Pall Mall Stakes in March, beating Roswell Flyer by three-quarters of a length in a fast 26.87.

Since that success, the Walthamstow raider has won the Scurry Gold Cup at GRA sister track Catford, the Coral Golden Sprint at Romford and made the final of the Peterborough Derby in a truly amazing year.

El Boss had a scare in the Gold Cup first-round heats when scraping through in third place behind Go Go Zodiac and Hes Nobodys Fool.

But he was back to his best in Tuesday's semi-finals, showing lightning early pace to burn off his rivals and turn the tables on Go Go Zodiac for a two-length victory in 27.10. Mullins' runner is well suited by this 450m trip and would surely have claims to be the greyhound of the year should he land the 2,500 first prize.

Wath Serenade, who will be running in his third successive Gold Cup final, is fancied to chase El Boss home, with Tolpuddle Gizmoe, trained by Oxford handler Graham Holland, taken to complete the trio. TONIGHT'S RUNNERS
