A Banbury vet, described as a dangerous operator, is being sought by police and the Royal National Institute for the Blind over fund-raising activities.

David "The Beast" Shepherd, of the West Bar Veterinary Surgery, will be arrested on February 14.

He will be held in custody until friends and customers have raised £500 bail.

Staff at West Bar say their boss may have to hold surgeries in his cell if the bail money is not found.

They are appealing for help with the bail and anyone with spare cash should contact Julie Samways at West Bar Vets on Banbury 262332.

But it's all for a good cause. Mr Shepherd is becoming a "criminal" for one day only in aid of charity.

The Royal National Institute for the Blind and Banbury's special police constables will be in town on Valentine's Day "arresting" prominent people including Mr Shepherd and Castle Quay director Jim Harris. Each volunteer "criminal" will have to raise £500 for the RNIB to secure their release.

Police have warned people not to approach Mr Shepherd before February 14 unless they are prepared to empty their pockets.

They said Mr Shepherd can be dangerous when it comes to extracting charity money.
