A man found hanged from a tree is believed to be that of advertising executive Manuel Aguierre, who disappeared last month.

The body was found in Bagley Wood near Kennington yesterday afternoon by a woodman. The death is not being treated as a suspicious.

Insp Graham Sutherland, of Abingdon police, said: "The body had been there for some time and positive identification will take some time, but we believe the body to be that of Mr Aguierre. His family have been informed."

Mr Aguierre, 24, who was of Colombian origin, was described as "shy and retiring" by family and friends. He lived with his mother and sister in Welford Gardens, Abingdon. He disappeared two weeks before Christmas after leaving his mother a short note which read "I love you to.

He worked in advertising sales for the Courier free newspaper in Abingdon where colleagues said he was finding it difficult to manage. Police believe he may have been suffering from depression.
