A mother of two was jailed for three years after admitting dealing Ecstasy and cannabis.

Samantha Lucas, 28, of Evenlode, Banbury, had a bar weighing 453.97g of cannabis, loose lumps of cannabis, 488 tablets of Ecstasy and 16.1g of amphetamine at her home which police raided on November 16 last year.

Paul Reid, prosecuting, told Oxford Crown Court Lucas admitted buying the cannabis and Ecstasy to sell to her friends, as well as for her own use. The amphetamine was for her use.

Lucas claimed it was the first time she had dealt in drugs, Mr Reid said.

Paul Mitchell, defending, said Lucas was a heavy drug user, who bought in bulk for economy and only supplied to a few close friends. He said she would consume ten to 15 Ecstasy tablets in a weekend.

Mr Mitchell added that Lucas's eldest son, Luke, six, suffered a rare form of leukaemia and could need a bone marrow transplant in the future. As Lucas was the sole carer of Luke, he would suffer if she went to prison.

Judge David Morton Jack said supplying a Class A drug was a "dreadful offence" as Ecstasy frequently led to death.

He added: "Plainly you were a street level dealer of some size."

Lucas who pleaded guilty to four charges, was jailed for three years,18 months and a year, to be served concurrently.
