Soldiers at Dalton Barracks near Abingdon are in training for more rigorous manoeuvres - but this time for charity.

Thirty-five members of the 60 Transport Squadron 4 General Support Regiment of the Royal Logistic Corps are limbering up for a ten-mile sponsored dash tomorrow (9) to raise money for the Oxford Down's Syndrome Service.

A member of the Squadron, Cpl Paul Latham has a six-month-old son, Tyler, who has Down's Syndrome. He attends the Oxford service centre which helps those with Down's Syndrome fulfil their potential.

Cpl Latham said: "Funds raised by us will help children to continue speech, language and communication skills training. The centre relies almost entirely on voluntary donations and funds are always needed to continue and expand the service."
