Following their 4-1 thrashing by Uxbridge at the weekend, Ryman League Division 1 leaders Thame produced a much-improved performance last night against a Harlow side who had suffered just one defeat in their previous nine games.

Thame keeper Ian Moores, who returned after a one-game suspension, saved well from Jon Hooker's free kick.

At the other end, home keeper James Hasell was penalised for picking up a back pass, but Justin Lee's strike was deflected for a corner.

Moores had an escape in the 37th minute when his attempted clearance was charged down by John Coley, the ball going narrowly wide.

John Mitchell, who was causing problems with his pace, shot just wide in the 66th minute.

Both sides had chances to win the game in the last ten minutes. Harlow's Marc Salmon pounced when Moores failed to hold a stinging shot from Hooker, but the keeper recovered well to deny the Salmon effort.

In the last minute, Lee's corner fell to skipper Martin Brown, but his shot has hacked off the line by Marvin Samuels to ensure that the honours finished even.

Thame have now picked up just two points out of the last 15.

Thame: Moores, Jones, Lee, Brown, A Williams, Avery, Merritt, West (Swaysland 69), Mitchell, Perna (Minton 80), Fontaine (Smith 80).
