An Oxfordshire smallerholder is urging livestock keepers to make sure they are using the correct disinfectant to ward off foot and mouth.
Rob RhodesRob Rhodes, 45, pictured, who keeps sheep, goats, cattle and ponies in Cote, near Standlake, found out last Thursday that his disinfectant did not stop the disease.
Mr Rhodes, a plastic refurbisher in Standlake, had been using Jeyes Fluid, a strong disinfectant. When he went to buy more, he learnt that it did not prevent of foot and mouth.
Mr Rhodes said: "I had no idea that Jeyes fluid did not stop foot and mouth and it worries me that there are many other people across the region who are unaware."
