Burford United reached the final of the Autotype UTV League Ridgeway Cup for the first time with the help of two first-half strikes from Simon Gibbs.

The 3-0 win against Forest Hill made it fourth time lucky for Burford, who had fallen at the semi-final stage three times in recent years.

They took the lead when Gibbs glanced home a Pete Travers corner with the outside of his boot. In the 41st minute, he converted Travers's cross at the second attempt after his first effort had been blocked by keeper Andy Clarke.

Burford sealed the result in the 50th minute through Del Hewson.

In the final, the west Oxon side will meet the winners of this week's semi-final between Long Wittenham and The Bell Grove.

In the final third round match, Long Wittenham recorded a 2-1 win against Brewery Tap Res.

Nigel Cook put Wittenham ahead from the penalty spot, after Andy Dix had been brought down. Substitute Steve Slater added a second before half-time. Tap's Simon Ward reduced the arrears in the closing stages.

Veteran Bob Saunders rescued a point for Chilton in Division 1, scoring in the 87th minute to snatch a 3-3 draw against strugglers Brightwell.

Martin Parsons gave Chilton the lead in the eighth minute, but Martin White netted twice for Brightwell before half-time.

Kevin Gibbs squared it for the visitors in the second half, before player-manager Mickey Allen came off the bench to convert Steve Cuddon's cross at the far post and restore Brightwell's lead.

After taking an early lead, Witney Elm Tree crashed 8-2 at East Hendred.

It was 2-2 at half-time with Steve Rowles and Seb Wilsker scoring for Elm Tree, and Barry Fisher and Glyn Evans netting for Hendred.

Hendred came out with all guns firing in the second half to score a further six through Mark Hendry (3), Chris Pettis, Jason Fisher and Mark Smith.

Brewery Tap slipped to their fourth league defeat, losing 3-1 against Athletico Indaline, who scored through Mark Haynes (2) and Danny Curran. Lee Jones replied for Tap.
