An Oxfordshire Lions' Club is focusing its latest campaign on helping people in the Third World who have bad eyesight.
Bicester Lions' Club launched its annual Recycle for Sight Campaign at the Melson Wingate Opticians, in Sheep Street, yesterday.
Already about 200 pairs of old spectacles have been donated towards the campaign.
Bins where people can drop off their old glasses will be placed inside the Forbuoys shop and in Lloyds bank, both in Sheep Street, and inside Somerfield supermarket, in Market Hill.
Clive Collisson, the president of Bicester Lions, told the Oxford Mail: "We hope that the people of Bicester will donate as many pairs of spectacles as possible.
"W want the town to play its part in supporting eye health in developing countries."
The spectacles will be collected and then sent to Lions Medico, in France, where they will be sorted out and dispatched to Third World countries.
Further information about the campaign can be obtained by calling Bob Meager 01869 322404 or Clive Collisson on 01869 241481.
