A council leader has apologised after waste collection services were disrupted due to staff shortages.

Rubbish has been left uncollected across South Oxfordshire because the district council's waste contractor, SITA, has been hit by a staffing crisis.

Both refuse and recycling services have been affected.

However, SITA has now given an undertaking to South Oxfordshire District Council that all this week's collections will be made by 4pm on Sunday.

Council leader Jan Morgan said: "The council apologises to all of its residents for the inconvenience caused, and offers assurances that measures are being taken to resolve the problems in the long term."
