Bottom-of-the-table Luton were no match for a vibrant Banbury side in Saturday's encounter as opening bowler Mark Rorich turned in a top-class performance.

The visitors began steadily against Rorich and Ian Adams, but then lost three wickets in 11 balls as they slumped to 29-4.

Will Sneath and Kevin Davis tried hard to retrieve the situation, but David Taylor worked his way through the middle-order, before Rorich returned to wrap up the tail with three wickets in ten balls.

He finished with figures of 6-19 in 9.5 overs, seven of which were maidens. Taylor's efforts were rewarded with 3-25 in 15 overs.

Andy Sabin and Craig Haupt, who last year set a league record with an unbroken stand of 220 against Luton, started in similar fashion.

They put on 73 in 15 overs before Haupt fell for 51 off 54 balls with a six and nine fours.

Tim Smith fell for a duck but Sabin and Shahbaz Ali made sure there were no further alarms as Banbury passed the target 50 minutes before tea.
