Two men suffered facial injuries after they were assaulted by a group of three or more men in the centre of Chipping Norton on Saturday night.

They were punched in the face in the Market Place and then chased along West Street before getting away.

One of the offenders is described as white, 5ft 9in, stocky with short dark hair and wearing a silver shirt.

There was another incident about the same time when a man was found in West Street with injuries and taken to The Horton Hospital, Banbury. However, the following day, he had no recollection of what happened.

Police on 01608 648715 are appealing for witnesses.

Pc Mark Smith said: "The assault reported to us was unprovoked and the two men did not know their attackers.

"We don't know whether the other incident was a crime or an accident."
