The strength of feeling against the decision of Hinksey Heights to sack their PGA professionals Richard Howett and Jamie Herbert has led to the scrapping of this Sunday's captain's day at the club.
"It was not appropriate in the circumstances to hold the day," said this year's captain Graham Henwood.
Instead, members have decided to run a 'professionals day' in honour of Howett and Herbert, who leave this week.
More than 60 members will playing in the event, which will include a presentation to the departing pros.
It is expected that a number of members will resign over the issue.
"Lots of members are upset, especially as they paid their subs in April, not knowing that the club would part with their PGA professionals," said chairman Bob Oakes.
