Oxford Cheetahs team manager Colin Meredith, has plumped for newly-crowned Overseas champion Jason Lyons as guest for the injured Lukas Dryml as they take on Wolverhampton in a Sky Sports Elite League clash at the Stadium tonight (7.30pm).

Paul Hurry rides for Wolves against his former club tonight

Dryml remains out of action after his successful knee operation in the Czech Republic last Friday and will probably be out for a couple more weeks.

Meredith had no doubts about opting for Lyons after watching Belle Vue's Aussie ace in action at Poole on Sunday.

He said: "Jason has returned to form and was stunning. He is usually a prolific points-scorer at Cowley and I see no reason why that should be any different tonight."

Wolves were the last team to inflict a league defeat on Cheetahs, who won at home 47-43, but were hammered 53-37 in the return.

Wolves became the only club to take a bonus point off them, and Oxford certainly have a point to prove.

It was also the team's heaviest defeat of the season and marked a turning point in the Cheetahs fortunes, as it has been a more positive side who have raced since.

However, after the close call against the Peterborough last week, Cheetahs' promoter Vanessa Purchase is taking no chances.

"We were a little lucky last week," she said. "I have made sure that all of the team know what we expect. We cannot afford to get complacent and we must go into every match with the determination to win.

"Wolverhampton pushed us close on their first visit and always ride Oxford well, so we will have to be at our best."

The Midlanders are currently lying at the foot of the table. However, on Monday they did Cheetahs a favour by beating high-flying Poole Pirates and will be full of confidence.

They include Oxford asset Paul Hurry and former Cheetah Alun Rossiter in their line-up.

Oxford: Andersen, Wiltshire, Lyons, Johnston, Adams, Appleton, Dryml.

Wolverhampton: Karlsson, Nermark, Ermolenko, Hurry, Jensen, A N Other, Rossiter.
