The Grove-based BMW Williams Formula 1 Team goes to the Belgian Grand Prix this weekend hoping for a better performance than in Hungary.

Some fruits of the team's labours with the ongoing development of the FW23 will be seen in Spa-Francorchamps where there will be a new chassis for Ralf Schumacher, which has some detail alterations.

The team are hoping Ralf can at least match his previous performances at this medium downforce track of second in 1998, fifth in 1999 and third in 2000.

Williams have four wins to their credit on this circuit, while Juan Pablo Montoya has raced there twice in Formula 3000. In his first visit he was disqualified before he roared back to finish second in the next.

This is another circuit where testing is not permitted, so the test team have spent this week with Ralf and Marc Gene in Barcelona and Ricardo Sperafico in Danielson, France.

Schumacher said the car in Spa should be better than in the last race in Hungary, but there was always a question mark about the weather as it often rained, which could cause a problem.
