Bognor Regis Tn 3, Oxford City 1

A goal in injury time killed off City's hopes of a point away to unbeaten Ryman Division 1 leaders Bognor on Saturday.

City were outplayed in the first half by an impressive home outfit, but came back after the interval.

After a minute's silence in memory of former City player Steve Morton, the 'Rocks' took up the running and Stuart Nelson twice cut out excellent crosses from Hudson.

In the 17th minute, City's keeper made a fine save to tip a header from Wright on to a post, but City did not heed the warning and they went behind three minutes later when Russell was given too much room to nod another deep cross past Nelson.

City were unlucky, a 30-yarder from Matty Whitehead coming back off the crossbar, but they were struggling to contain their hosts and Birmingham and Howell sent half chances wide.

After the interval, City fought back well and in the 67th minute, Mark Druce beat two defenders and curled his shot over Stoner, but inches wide.

With 15 minutes left, brilliant wing play by the dangerous Hudson set up Russell who was left with a simple tap-in from two yards to make it 2-0.

City were back in it in the 83rd when Whitehead curled a splendid free kick into the top corner from 25 yards.

Hudson struck City's bar after another fine run, before Bognor had a let-off with four minutes left as Danny Wise volleyed over from close range after good work by Druce.

Deep into injury time, Birmingham sealed a deserved home victory when he ran through a sparse defence to shoot wide of Nelson.
