An Oxford restaurant cooked up gourmet Bangladeshi dishes at the weekend that rarely feature on mainstream restaurant menus.

The celebration of authentic Bangladeshi cuisine was organised by Cafe Turmeric, in Park End Street, Oxford, as part of the first nationwide Bangladesh Festival of Food and Culture, launched by MP Alex Salmond at the House of Commons.

People were able to sample the dishes at a charity dinner at the restaurant yesterday, in aid of The Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust.
