MARK Wright admits he is delighted with the way his players have bounced back from their heavy criticism just over a week ago, writes MARK EDWARDS.

The U's were booed off the pitch after a 2-0 home defeat against Macclesfield at The Kassam Stadium, with many fans calling it the worst performance they have witnessed from Oxford.

Now the U's boss says he is pleased with the way the players have bounced back, and shown people what they can really do after a 2-0 victory over Southend on Saturday and a 0-0 at Kidderminster on Tuesday, and now urged his side to show more consistency.

"I was very pleased with the performance on Tuesday, but when you defend as well as we did and have a couple cleared off the line, you look at it and say we should have won the game," Wright said.

"The players are showing the ability that they've got. They have showed since the Macclesfield game how much they want it and how much they want to play football.

"They've stepped forward in a major way, and should have had six points from six.

"I know what they've got in the locker, but they have now got to get more consistent."
