A Bicester company that made a number of staff redundant earlier this year has turned its business round and is taking on new staff.

Goodhead Group plc, based in Launton Road, Bicester, has between ten and 15 vacancies at its printing plant.

John Cooling, the group's managing director, said the redundancies in April came after the company closed its site in Abingdon and transferred staff to Bicester.

Five employees were made redundant because their positions were duplicated.

Mr Cooling said: "We had a tough time back in January because the machines weren't working but we have been expanding considerably in the past year."

Goodhead has spent £11m modernising the plant in Bicester. This included spending £7m on a new press.

As part of its expansion programme, a company the group bought more than four years ago is being officially merged with the Goodhead group on November 1.

Benham, based in Colchester, Essex, prints all UK telephone directories.

The Goodhead group has been based in Bicester for more than 28 years. The company prints many well-known magazines.
