Didcot Tn 0, North Leigh 2

North Leigh continued their dominance over rivals Didcot this season with a 2-0 victory at Loop Meadow Stadium in Saturday's Premier Division encounter.

This was the sixth meeting of the sides this term and Didcot have failed to win one of them. As with many of their previous encounters, there was little between the teams.

A superb move in the fifth minute involving Dwaine Strong and Damien Oglesby saw Town top scorer Ian Concannon's curling shot well saved by keeper Kevin Alder.

North Leigh scored the crucial opening goal in the 29th minute, when, with little space to manoeuvre, Matty Hendra met Andy McCabe's cross to shoot low into the corner of the net.

Eight minutes later, Didcot fell further behind in a bizarre manner. A long backpass from Didcot skipper Jamie Heapy bobbled as it reached his keeper Gordon Hearmon, and the ball rolled agonisingly passed him into the goal.

After the break, North Leigh defended deeper, soaking up Didcot pressure, but never released their stranglehold on the game to secure the points.

Carterton Tn 1, Abingdon Utd 2

After controlling most of the first half, Carterton had to give best to Abingdon.

Probing attacks led by Scott Taylor put United on the back foot early on. Carterton were unlucky not to open the scoring when Taylor chipped the ball into the Abingdon box for the diving Kenny Clark, whose header rattled the crossbar.

On 23 minutes, a long ball into the home half was met by Adam Hamp, who calmly chipped over the advancing Heritage to put Abingdon ahead.

Within six minutes Carterton went level when Nathan Woodley rose to meet a Mortimer-Jones corner and headed the ball home.

Abingdon rose to the occasion in the second half and kept the home side under constant pressure. With the game heading towards a draw, a goalmouth scramble saw Kai Ridley grab the winner in the 89th minute.

Wantage Tn 4, Southall Tn 0

Wantage made it 12 points out of 12 with this comfortable victory over Southall.

In heavy conditions, both sides became bogged down, unable to pass the ball with any fluency.

Wantage keeper Mark Pryde made a good save in the 30th minute at the feet of Beeny, while Ben Spiero, Lee Newport and Jones all went close for Wantage in the first half.

The second half started with Wantage much the brighter side and they were soon camped in the Southall half.

Newport put them ahead after 60 minutes before adding a second with a delicate chip six minutes later.

New signing Jon Hawkins came off the bench to make it 3-0 on 72 minutes from a Gavin Jones corner, and then Jones himself scored the fourth on 80 minutes.

Peppard 1, Ardley Utd 5

For the second time this season, Ardley put five past Peppard in a Supplementary Cup game played in trecherous conditions.

Richard Gardner opened the scoring on ten minutes, and then Stuart Beavon jnr made it 2-0 before half-time.

Although the home side pulled one back through Carius Tarris, Ardley were able to step up a gear with Beavon jnr going on to notch his hat-trick and Gardner bagging a second to seal Ardley's safe passage into round three.
