Members of two Wallingford groups are preparing to hold vigils for peace every month in the town's market place.
Julia Rose, speaking for Wallingford Peace Group and Wallingford Friends, said: "We know this will take a long time, but we are determined to do our bit."
She added: "We have decided to hold regular vigils until positive steps are taken to ensure peace in the world. We are under no illusions this could take some time."
The vigils will be between 10.30am and 11.30am on the first Saturday of every month.
