A successful landscape artist will stage an exhibition of new work in Oxford.

Paul Kessling, 36, of West Hendred, is inspired by the Downland, near Wantage, and uses bold washes of ink in rich bands of colour in his distinctive landscapes.

He said: "Working outside, I have come up against the weather this winter.

"Having been caught in several downpours, I have found ways of using the rain in my work. You need a pretty good downpour, but if you get it right, the colour washes can be spectacular."

The exhibition is at The Wiseman Gallery, in South Parade, Summertown, from February 16.
